Helping Rachel with her labor was an incredible experience, made all the more poignant by it’s timing (I left the hospital last night at about the same time I checked in a year before). I’d been reflecting on my own childbirth experience all day, and then to be so intimately part of Rachel’s… It was - god, I don’t know how to describe it

this is exactly how the childbirth ritual ought to be. Sharing the experience, the miracle.

I suppose this is another thing that separates us from animals.

I am so happy for her (and excited for you too).

But I am also a bit jealous.

I wish I could have delivered Hunter and experienced the more exciting and productive part of labor. Maybe next time (if there is a next time)..
