PICTURE POST: three or so weeks of playing catch up - spring fling dance, sleepover on the beach, rollerskating party, new nanny baby, making terrariums, a trip to the boardwalk in ocean city, nj, karen's housewarming party, and a visit from daniel
3 weeks ago, right after i got back from my trips to baltimore and south carolina, there was the spring fling dance at cha cha razzi. there was a live weezer cover band. it was so much fun.
everyone sang all the words to weezer, of course. everyone was also all dressed up. it was super cute.
after weezer, it was just a regular dance. everyone had a blast. i'm too big of a square to dance, so i just watched and socialized.
the following monday night my friend todd asked me at 3am if i wanted to go on a spur of the moment trip to the beach. i wasn't working full-time yet so i went for it.
at 4am, it was mostly deserted and really quiet except for the waves crashing. it was a really nice hang out with a new best friend.
everything looked really weird in the middle of the night in the fog
we decided to see if we could sleep on the beach all night without getting kicked off. so we laid out blankets and pillows right there and went to sleep.
we woke up around 8:30am without having been bothered at all. there was still no one in sight.
two days later karen and i went on a suburban adventure for her job
to cracker barrel 45 minutes outside of philly... haha. we were there to take a photo of the porch. her company just finished a new cracker barrel website.
then we stopped at a big plant store
then we went to holiday skating center in NJ for zia's rollerskating birthday party!
it was really weird and fun. it was old person skate night and there was a live organ player
after skating we went out for dollar taco night at dos segundos
i started my new job with asher. he's a super easy baby to watch, only 8 weeks old.
stoopin it up with asher
one day two weeks ago, karen and todd came over to make terrariums
we also started watching dawson's creek all together and got lucky's chinese take out, a west philly staple
two saturday's ago a crew of us loaded into the car and headed to ocean city, nj. karen and i both have tiny straightedge tattoos.
it was actually pretty cold out
it was two days before memorial day
we got there right at sunset
we did the boardwalk right
peter, todd and nick lee
kings of the beach
10 cent ski ball
back at home, after tearing out the big bush, ryan planted a little garden that's growing in pretty nicely. we're going to spread mulch soon and i'm thinking about building a planter box to put a bunch of greens in in the shady area right by the house.
i also finished moving in all my stuff into my studio and making it really cozy with all my new comics pages.
another west philly dawson's creek night, this time with tomato pie
hangin on my roof
a bbq at amy k's house during 90+ degree weather
later that night, playing putt putt for zia's real birthday
sports
babysitting pepper and smith
a photo pepper took of me. wearing a punk shirt cancels out my nike shorts, right?
later that evening at my gym- practice on the rings
a mid-week trip to franklin fountain for vegan ice cream
south philly rooftop movie night at the catsle
lots of friends came!
close up of pages progress - 17 pages done!
out to lunch with nanny dad and nanny grandma (and asher too but he was sleeping in this photo)
last weekend daniel came for a brief visit
we got pretty silly matching tattoos that are based on a jets to brazil song
then we went to karen and peter's housewarming party at their new place in fishtown
it was cool to show daniel around philly and have him meet all my new friends
the following day we went to brunch and then checked out our friends' bob and leah's place in northern liberties.
it was really cool. bob and leah went to the same art school as us in baltimore.
then we went to ultimo for philly's best coffee
it was reeally good
bob and leah came back to west with us for tofu hoagies and a walk around west philly with rover
then daniel and i went out for a really fancy dinner
we ate so much really delicious food from one of philly's best chefs
<3 best friends
