Though I can't really comment on what you're going through (vaguely confused, albeit curious as to the situation), I would say that anyone who treats you like that really wouldn't be worth it.
I wish I was there, I think you and I would get along quite well, if only for the insanity of oddness of art. My art is progressing oddly and turning into strange almost abstract work based off of nature. I'm starting to enjoy my work again. Which is odd.
ah well.

On this note. Email me the_norse_canadian at hotmail.com I need your address. I have two books for you, that I have decided, I can live without to give to you (for at least a little while, I read them now and they scream "SARAH MUST READ THESE" at me.) I'll send them to you over the holidays, well... i'll force my father to send them to you over the holidays.
