that uchrous guy is such an asshole!!! reason number 50million that he sucks at life. why would he discourage a student like that? he should have given you the solo if you took the time to loook at the music and go to an audition for it, even if he thought it needed some work. he could have given you a suggestion or two if he didnt like it. geez. what a bastard.

of course you are improving on new instruments at a faster rate than trumpet! you are trying the most technically difficult things on trumpet, while doing "easier stuff" on other instruments. you have higher expectations for trumpet than bassoon. try not to be discouraged!! and dont you DARE quit.
