Facebook vs. LiveJournal

Jun 15, 2011 09:23

I've noticed part of what keeps me from LJ is I don't have much to say in blog format.  Brief status updates are another story.  It's also much easier to scope out FB friends' status updates than to scour their LJ posts.

Does anyone else feel Facebook drags them away from LiveJournal?

For me, honestly, it's the opposite. I feel like Livejournal keeps me away from Facebook. I have very little interest in micro-blogging, and sometimes I find it annoying when people do it, such as when they post something cryptic and don't give an explanation and I'm left worrying what's wrong.

Yay, great to hear from you! It's been awhile, hasn't it? (Completely my fault, of course!)

Huh, never thought of it that way! That makes a lot of sense, especially when it's about something serious. Maybe FB tends toward superficiality because of the short format. When it comes to my FB friends' cryptic messages, it depends on the friend. Some of them write that way all the time.

Yeah, it's been a while! But it's my fault too; I haven't been commenting.

That's a good way to describe it. I do find Facebook quite superficial in a lot of ways.

When I run into someone who always writes cryptic, I'm sometimes amused, unless it is about something serious.
