But yeah, the whole "singling them out" thing just seems like a bad idea all together. :/

I think that people who are making these decisions don't see that most GLBT people don't want this kind of "special treatment." We just want to be treated the same, so making these unnecessary things just seeks to emphasize the differences, and like you said, kind of has "separate but equal" implications. >_>
