Sailing, day 1

So, first sailing lessons today (at a marina close to my house, so I even got to sleep in). Basically, everything went perfectly for me: didn't fall in the water; no WTF moments; got in quite a lot of actual sailing around in the afternoon

Reminds me of one of my favorite lines in the (probably never to be actually published) novel Polychrome I wrote a while back, when a monster is confronting the hero in a boat with the sail currently tied in place, the hero asks "do you know what they call that part of the boat?", and the monster -- unfamiliar with boats -- says, puzzled, "No..."

And the hero yanks the knot that's holding it in place free. "Boom."
