Yeah, How damn cool was that!! ALL THREE!! Talk about smacking Europe upside the head! Pisses me off that NBC doesn't show the fencing competition, though GRRRR. I totally agree, fencer chicks rock!
Ah but they DO show live feed of the events online! We watched the Men's sabre last night live online up until Keeth lost in the Round of 8, oh well. So while live gymnastics will be on the tv before us, we'll also be viewing the women's epee via live feed on the computer ;)
I really hope that in the men's team epee competition, someone can kick France's ass. The French silver medalist for the individual epee comp was a total dick. He yelled in his opponent's face, "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" and then when his opponent offered his hand for a handshake (which you're supposed to do, rules and etiquette, damnit) he turned his back and walked away, no salute to his opponent, or to the judge, nor handshakes to either. Totally classless. Asshat.
Now if I could just get therough the human interest stories pertaining to the Olympics /without/ crying......
I even cried when the guys were playing the drums /right/ at the begining.
While the most creative and artistic, they still can't beat Barcelona for the best torch lighting /evar/!!! Although carrying the scroll imagery through the torch lighting was /way/ cool!
The Olympics always aspire to such lofty, noble goals, and always seem to achieve them; it hard *not* feel emotional in such circumstances. Especially considering the state of the world and this country. It's incredibly reassuring to see something so positive on a human level.
Although, I do have to say, I think the Birdsnest is a ratehr bizarre, and unattracive structure :(
