I only have a vague recollection of my dad snaking the sewer pipes every few years back when I was a kid. However, I suspect that your root problem was relatively benign if you consider the procedure easy without mentioning the need to clean off a 100-foot length of coiled wire that's now thoroughly entwined with tree roots coated in sewage. Or maybe that only looms large in my memories because that was the one part of the process that a child could safely be required to assist with. Ah, those were the days! It's a father-son experience you can look forward to yourself in coming years.
