More regular posting by others in my friends feed has inspired me to post here again. And there have been a lot of things happening. Not surprising since I last posted 4 years ago

Congrats on the house! That does sound very exciting. We've also been tossing around the idea of moving back home to Mass in the future for similar reasons - lower cost of living, and new niece. Good luck with everything.
It's amazing how new little family members can change your mind about where you're living. I really didn't think I'd be living in CT again until my nephews came along.
Congrats! CT is really nice. In my mind we would end up there but then we did not so ... okay. But it always seemed a good compromise east coast location for all our family. Also I am so happy your SO has a job - unemployment can be really hard. Mine is now very excited to job hunt in the US after 5 years of frustration in the Netherlands - he has already started applying because he actually qualifies for some things and can call and talk to people about them. fingers crossed you have an easy transition up to CT....
I'm glad your SO is excited about getting back to the U.S. and job hunting. When mine was interviewing he kept having all these doubts about being qualified etc. and I had to keep reminding him that when he has been working, he hasn't been in positions that fully use his skill set. He's a lot happier now that he's being challenged and treated like a professional.
