so it's been awhile and obviously this won't be everything i've watched since the last time i posted movie opinions.

Re: Spiderwick, I watched it with my husband and his parents. Key quote as we were talking about it later: "So the lesson for the kids is that if your father claims to love you, you must destroy him."

The books are cute.

Spiderwick - My take on this is similar to yours - good, but a kids movie. Then I loooked at the special features on the dvd and the director is saying that they took the kids story and tried to spice it up by adding more danger and aging the characters a bit. This was said to be done since the books came out in 2001 or so, and it's readers are now 17 or 18...
