Vegas, although kind of gross itself, is centrally located to Death Valley, Red Rock Desert, the Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree, and Zion National Park. We did death valley and Joshua Tree last year for spring break and it was amazing! Flights from Lansing to vegas are pretty reasonable too :)

yeah i really have no desire to go to vegas at all. the thought of vegas kind of makes my skin crawl. plus i'm really interested in staying in one place. it looks like we'll be doing memphis since josh doesn't really have the cash for much else right now.

I went to Austin TX for a conference around this time of year a while back and it was fantastic. Cool town, warm weather, very walk/bus accessible. The only potential problem is the SXSW festival which will take up every room and jack up every price (my last day was the day before it started, and it was already moderately crazy).
