what exactly is the dome?

the dome is the only structure left that has been bombed by an atomic bomb. Basically, it was almost directly below the detonation point, so it didn't experience any of the insane shear forces that all the other buildings did, and therefore was still standing. The rest of the city was flattened except for a few banks and the hospital, which were new buildings designed to withstand a bomb blast (albeit not that big, it still completely torched the buildings, but the shells were standing). The dome thing was the framework for a glass dome on the top of the building. It was actually a prefectural hall and such in it's time.

liar, not only are there not pics from japan, but i see nothing of purdue. Of course i'm not one to talk, i haven't posted in forever. that doesn't mean i can't make unreasonable demands of course.
