Advice on books, textbooks in particular: Don't but them unless they have been prescribed. Even then, check the uni library and see if the book is helpful or interesting before deciding to buy it. This is the way it goes at UoA at least.
It's far too expensive to buy all the books, and chances are, you won't get around to reading them anyway due to other, more pressing matters (such as essays, tests and who's at the bar). Do make use of the ones that the library has, particularly at shortloan.

Yea one of my friends is buying/has bought all the 'buy these' books, and so im asking her if they are worth getting, them trying to find them somewhere else :p at a cheaper price. i got 2 today....so depressing was $222 down the drain .ok so my parents money but pish :p
