I was involved with a man, once. I was in love with him. It's a human frailty I suppose, we all need to be loved and feel loved.
We meet accidentally. Around the same time he was investigating my Father, he was, or rather still is, a police officer. My parents were divorced and Daddy was involved in...well...lets just say, it finally dawned on me why we were comfortably rich.
He didn’t know he was investigating my Father and I didn’t know he was.
When he did find out, he couldn’t trust me. I gave him my word, I had nothing to do with what my Father was doing. I thought he trusted me. He still checked me out, didn't he.
I should have said no, right at the beginning, when he said he was always on duty. That alone told me where I stood with him. It’s hard to say no to a steamroller saying, "Please, have spaghetti at my place." It is especially hard to say no, when the steamroller happens to look devastatingly cute.
In the end I broke it off. He didn’t really need me. More over, he couldn’t trust me. Not really.
