Religion and how I got over it

Once upon a time I was a Christian. Sorta. I went to church every Sunday, I went to Youth Group. Yearly I would go on Church retreats to various places. Every night I said my prayers and went to sleep.

It's always seemed like something to grow out of... except most people don't.

Which puts a radical liberal progressive athiest with a strong desire to see more inclusiveness in the language and ideas present in public discourse in a position oddly similar to that of a person who believes very strongly on religious grounds that people like himself are flat out wrong about the way the world works and which values are important to have, but has to deal with / tolerate the existence of / try to get along with same.

That's actually pretty astute. I feel a bit better about the world, knowing that someone who is a "radical liberal progressive athiest" has this realization, in the hope that their counterpart does, too.
