1)       Do NOT add full cup of water, it will make breakfast explode.

2)       This is not pre-sweetened. Will need sugar packet
3)       DON'T BURN TONGUE!
4)       Steel-cut Oatmeal is like nothing I have consumed before.

food, fibromyalgia, crohn's disease

Steel cut oatmeal FTW! Eat it like great-great-grandma used to!

a pinch of salt in the water while cooking, along with a pack of splenda and a teaspoon of cinnamon

maybe some raisins, or other dried fruit to add some flavor

it doesn't have to be *just* like grandma cooked

(Crafty suggests chocolate chips, himself)

I would love to have chocolate chips, but I really shouldn't.

I've been adding various dried fruits and sugar (can't use splenda anymore) and it's been going good!

Check your meds, though. I discovered a few weeks ago that certain meds are actually absorbed into the fiber if taken with high fiber foods like oatmeal. Specifically, Metformin (a diabetes medicine), but there were a few others mentioned that I don't recall...
