Holy moly - I thought it had been several years since you last posted - but I checked and it is only ten months ago. :)
Considering your last post, I have been thinking about the burqa thing, and I think people don't notice the economic factor of it. The women I see in Canada, who wear the full flowing black coats and the head scarves with face veils, are really well-to-do. Those coats are silk, and they are lined (you can tell by how they flow and drape). The handbags put my non-purchased Dior wallet to shame. Each shoe probably is more than my rent. Women who are less well-to-do make do with just the head scarves. So, I think the burqa (or burqa-like clothing), in Western countries at least, is an expression of high-status.
