Voting rights in prison

There is an ongoing clash between the current government and the European Court of Human Rights on the subject of whether prisoners can vote. The ECHR says that the current blanket ban is too harsh, and the government must introduces some subtlety. Sounds sensible to me. Isn't two years the limit usually set for "serious crime", and the required penalty for extraditionable offences? So letting people who are incarcerated for less than two years vote makes sense, as it's in other ways treated like a limit that distinguishes more or less serious offences.

I'm even fine with saying that you should be allowed to cast a vote in your last permanent residency constituency in the first parliamentary election that is held after your sentencing, even if you were incarcerated the week after the last election.
