When life happens

Wow. You know all those times when you start something new (a story, a hobby, a blog, or something similar) in the summer, and it seems like the best idea ever, and then as soon as the year starts you forget all about it ( Read more... )

life, internet, reflection

I totally understand the whole internet-falling-off-the-radar thing... though, I find that even when life isn't going great, if it's still busy, then I'm not on the internet. Does that happen to you, too?

I mean, I do sometimes turn to the internet when the real world isn't so fun anymore. But sometimes, it's as if life's too busy for me to be spending time on the internet, when I need to be doing something else.

Either way, it's always fun to rediscover a website, especially one like this. It's always interesting to read past posts and see your own thought process and way of looking at things, you know? Even little things like, a post about being excited about going to dinner and now looking back on that dinner, which, in reality, kind of sucked because the food was bad or something. Not a great example, but hopefully you understand what I'm saying.

Oh, and congrats on the boyfriend! :) He seems like a nice guy.

Yeah, definitely! Any time when my energy is spent, I stop going to the places I like on the internet. Except facebook. I don't know your relationship to facebook, but for me it's just an extension of my real life. (And it's great to know what my old friends are doing without having to try very hard - ugh, I'm so lazy.)

Where did your blog go? Did you give up on it, or are my internet skills so low that I can't find it?

I love your example! Yes, it's great to read back on things. Emotions come and go, and there's really no way to remember them unless you write them down. It was fun for me to reread this post now, 7 months later, and remember being in snow-covered Scotland suffering from bone-deep cold and jetlag. Which makes it all the more sad if you've removed your posts! Let me know. :3 (And I won't hold it against you if it takes you as long as I did to respond... I'm hopeless!)

Yup, I did remove all my posts. I did it a few months back, actually. I went through the old ones and found them kind of boring, so I deleted them and decided to "start over" and be more detailed in my posts (because my entries before were kind of vague).

But then, LJ kind of got left on the backburner. I still come back and read other people's journals to be updated, but I just haven't gotten around to updating my own. And every time I sit down and try and write about my day, it just seems boring, so I end up not posting anything at all.

So, no, don't worry, there's nothing wrong with your internet skills!
