in the category of "omg amazing news," i may have landed a JOB for once my status comes through!! i'm in a large symphonic choir here in vancouver (which is fantastic!), and one night at rehearsal, i went into major networking mode. found out that this young girl in my row (25!) is a marketing coordinator for a big travel agency. they're based here in vancouver with 76 franchises across canada. so i mentioned to her that i'm bored as hell and can work for free. apparently her boss liked the idea! i spoke to him yesterday, and he all but offered me a job for when i get my status in february. and the guy hasn't even seen my resume! lol. basically, he (the vp of marketing) and the vp of business development want to create a new position of business development coordinator, taking some reponsibilities off the marketing coordinators, and some off the vp of bd. the plan is to use me as a guinea pig to cultivate the position now, then as long as things are still peachy in february, officially hire me on as soon as i'm legal! how wonderful would it be if i were guaranteed a full time, salaried position *immediately* upon getting status? can you say Weight Off My Shoulders? so the guy is off next week for the company's annual conference (which happens to be on a week-long cruise--tough life!!), but he asked me to call him the day he gets back, and we'll set up a meeting with me and both VPs. i am sooooooooooo excited!
i *have* been faithfully reading my entire flist for the past week+, and i hope to keep it up. it makes me feel a lot better to stay more connected with you all. *hugs*
