Elijah looked away, and it was that moment, the turning of his head away from Orlando, that hit Orlando the hardest. It still hits him the hardest - that exact angle of Elijah’s jaw, the sudden tightening of his lips that only Orlando would ever notice or know what it meant, the drop of eyelashes against cheekbones.

“Hey,” Elijah says. “I guess my congratulations are in order.” He smiles at the ring on Orlando’s finger.

Hurts. Really hurts. Ouch. :(

(In my own world, Orlando eventually says 'fuck marriage' and kisses Elijah deeply.)

Oh, this is so poignant. There's so much unrealised potential between these two - it saddens me to think of all the tender moments and soul-tingling sex they've missed by keeping their true feelings locked away and living with compromise.
