Daily Star, 24th December
Hot gossip here! We spotted Elijah Wood with Viggo Mortensen - aka The Moonlighters - out shopping yesterday together with their arms round each other. Nobody could call that a friendly hug! Surely there's a spark between them? Perhaps it'll be a Merry Christmas for Wood after all...wink wink!

"It just hurts me that he'd do that," Elijah confided. He and Viggo were doing a last minute Christmas rush - Viggo claimed he needed something for his uncle, and Elijah had nothing for either his brother or sister.
"I know, I know," Viggo said soothingly. "Try and forget about it, Elijah - it's not worth stressing yourself out over."
Elijah sighed, examined the price on a bottle of perfume.
"This'll do for Hannah," he said, picking it up. They headed for the counter. "I know Orlando's not worth it, Viggo, but we were together so long and it hurts."
"I can understand," Viggo said. "He's probably feeling hurt himself - I bet he's just trying to get revenge. He was probably insulted that you never wanted sex with him." This was whispered in an undertone.
"Well...I guess," Elijah said. They reached the top of the queue and he slid his credit card into the small machine, and tapped in his pin code.

Viggo walked Elijah home at about 5-ish.
"Let me cook you something," he said, bustling into the kitchen.
"Not hungry, thanks," Elijah said, spreading the presents out on the table in the kitchen-dining room. "Help yourself to something, though, if you want."
Viggo came over and sat down.
"I think we need to talk," he said.
Elijah nodded, and sat down opposite.
"I mean," Viggo continued, "I really like you, Lijah. I - I could see us in a relationship."
"Me too," Elijah said, and tentatively took Viggo's hand across the table.
Viggo leaned across and planted a small kiss to Elijah's lips.
"Is there anything you want to tell me?" he asked.
"Like what?" Elijah asked, feeling a flicker of nerves.
"Is what Orlando said true? That you just have no drive?"
Elijah felt himself begin to blush. He pulled his hand away from Viggo.
"You don't have to tell me," Viggo said. He gave Elijah a small smile. "But it might help."
"Viggo, look," Elijah said. "It's really hard for me to trust anyone right now. I mean, the last person I told anything to went and sold the story to a f*****g tabloid."
"That's OK," Viggo said soothingly. "But when you feel ready, Elijah, I'm willing to listen."
They sat in silence for a minute, then Elijah murmured, "I trust you."
Viggo reached across and took his hand again. Another moment passed.
Then Elijah said, "You remember when I was with Karl?"
"Yes, of course."
"Well...things weren't great. Karl very much did what he wanted, when he wanted. And - he - he was so strong, Viggo, I couldn't stop him..." Elijah trailed off. All the memories were beginning to flood beyond the dam he'd made in his mind to block them.
Viggo rubbed Elijah's hand between both of his, silent.
"He - he kind of ruined sex for me, for a while," Elijah said. "After we broke up, and I started going out with Orlando, I made such a huge effort to - to try and...please him. But after a while he just started going on, saying that we never did what he wanted and it was all about me. So...we kind of stopped having sex. I should have seen the affair coming, I guess."
"Oh, Lij." Viggo got up and perched on the edge of Elijah's seat, pulling him into a hug as the tears began to fall.
