Fic: A Reliable Man. Part Nine: Resolution

Feb 10, 2011 16:20

Summary: Lestrade is back at work, and a routine bit of legwork turns dangerous. For once it is only marginally Mycroft Holmes's fault. What happens later, well that's different. Very different. Very different indeed.

Mycroft grew on me. As time went on and I had to work out why he would want Lestrade as a person rather than to teach him a lesson I had to work out who he was.

Rather than who Sherlock thinks he is...

I've just read this entire series all the way through, and, my god. Seriously. I think all the tension of this has taken up residence in my chest. (Which is a very, very good thing, strange as it sounds!) Utterly gorgeous little details of character and plot development... I could read this epic forever.

It sounds like a good thing, as far as an author is concerned. To have affected someone is a wonderful thing.

Thank you for telling me!

So beautiful and bittersweet, love the ending as I think it definitely fits what has happened to them. Oh author thank you for finishing this series :) ♥

It was always going to be finished, just took a while. I'm very happy you thought the ending was beautiful.

This was a fitting end piece to the series. I loved how Mycroft put everything on the line here with full disclosure and he was expecting to loose? He really was expecting this to be the last time but still had the courage to explain his feelings. God I love Mystrade and your version(s) specifically.

When he made up his mind to remove the camera he knew it could go either way. Lestrade's reactions made him think he'd lost, and he was already sure he had when he took Lestrade's hand. But he had to explain, had to try.

The ending was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I love how this entire series was about Mycroft learnng to treat another person as an equal and not a tool. He had to have it practically pounded into his head that he could not control Lestrade, or force him, or do anything but treat him with respect. And because he learned his lesson well and because he was honest and open... he won his prize. He got Lestrade.

*sighs happily* So much awesome. I'm so deliriously happy you kept writing this 'verse.

*claps hard*

Originally the entire series was going to be about how hard it would be to have those two together. But as time went on and I learned more about them, especially Mycroft, I realised how it might happen.

He's still the same man with everyone else...
