I was not able to vote vote because apparently my registration was never completed ;_; (I guess USPS lost my application?), but they allowed me to fill out a provisional ballot so I guess it's better than nothing?
Everywhere needs same-day registration. I worked at a polling place in Minneapolis, and like 300-400 people registered on Election day, including people finding out on the spot they weren't actually registered/ready to go.
:(
ps--I'm sure it varies state to state, but pretty sure everywhere w/voter ID laws and such only count provisional ballots if you go in and prove your eligibility within like 4 days, and Florida or some damn place only counts them if the race is close enough to need to see them/count them. double :( :(
