You know what I don't understand? Our country is the richest nation in the world and we have the best technology and blah blah blah, but yet.. people in New Orleans are stranded on an interstate overpass starving and dehydrated. Why haven't the Coast Guard or local law enforcement attempted to rescue or drop some supplies to these people? I know ( Read more... )

Yea, I've had the feeling reading and hearing about the events down there that increasingly they sound like reports from a third world country. A stretch of land approximately the size of the UK affected by the hurricane, a city underwater, no electricity, no clean water, a stadium of people stranded, rampant looting, people shooting at rescue choppers and National Guardsmen, hundreds--more probably thousands--drowned (according to the New Orleans mayor), etc.
