Well, here I am in Omaha. I officially considered myself "Nebraskan" as of Tuesday, when I took Maureen to the airport. As long as Maureen was in town, I was "on vacation", and therefore it was still part of the road trip of getting here.. right? Okay, so my logic has some serious holes in it.
Tuesday was a rough day for me, I came back to Tim and Jaemi's after the airport. My new home for now is going to be in my brother's office. I wasn't sure how I felt about that at first. He's cleaned some of the crap out of the closet and he hooked up my tower so I can use my pc, so I'm all better now. As long as I have my own computer, I'm in my happy place. That's kinda sad.
Yesterday I started checking out CareerLink.com and other online sites for employment. It's great how you can just click "Apply now" and throw your resume at people without having to run all over the place. I also took a major step towards one of my Cruise goals* for November. I started to go for long walks again.
* Cruise Goals being-
1) get into better shape
2) save money so I can go swim with the dolphins ($!)
3) buy new clothes so I look faboo
4) shanghai a guy to go with me so I don't have to face the family alone (kidding, but okay, not really)
Today, I was apartment hunting online (I lurve Apartmentguide.com) I have 3 or 4 monthes before I need to worry about it (I want to be in an apt by July).
I kind of have it narrowed down to 3 possibilities (not closed to others, but these 3 are good)
#1. economy- not a bad place, the cheapest I'd comfortably move into, I could afford to buy a new/used car and live here without sweating the payments. kinda icky kitchen, pets allowed (about $100 less than my old rent, slightly southwest)
#2. Middle of the Road- a step nicer, different floorplan and kicks the apt standard square floorplan theory (its more linear and out West) Free gas for heating/cooking/hot water, no pets. :( (about $50 less than my old rent)
#3. Woohoo!- not Luxury, but as close as I'm agonna get. Really nice. hardwood floored kitchens, ceramic tile in bathrooms, beautiful! pets allowed, younger community, kinda swank and trendy. Really close to worksites I've applied for, and close to my family. A lot of perks (depending on garage or not, could be $50-$100 more)
I have plenty of time, but its never too early to look around.
