Rodimus turned his head and squinted toward the other table as some of Panacea's staff lay a small golden form on it and then hooked it to various machines. Chromia hovered nearby anxiously, her expression stricken.
...That seemed like a lot of machines.
Frowning, the Autobot Prime tried to sit up, only to blink as one of the medics firmly shoved him back down. "What... happened... to Nova?"
"Just lay still and let the antivirus work," said the mech, checking the readouts by Rodimus' own table.
"Wanna... know... now." He switched his optics off as things stretched out of focus. "Ow."
"Can you tell me your name?"
His frown deepened, but he decided to play along. "Rodimus... Prime. Iacon. Mate... to... your boss, Res-Q."
The medic made a small sound of relief. "You're going to be alright. We just have to let the antivirus finish clearing your systems."
Rodimus sighed, then reached up and caught the white and red mech by the neck. "What. Happened? Now."
"Ack!" Res-Q braced his hands against the table to keep from falling on him.
"Roddy, if you don't stop trying to trash my staff while they're trying to put your sorry skid plate back to rights I will take your Roy Rogers chips and make them into powder."
Rodimus paused, and then let go, feeling too cruddy to even try and get a 'yes, dear' out. Instead he just repeated woefully, "What happened?"
"We discovered a Decepticon spy... the hard way." Panacea settled wearily on the side of his table and put a hand on his chest. "He tried to shoot you with viral nanites, but Nova jumped on you and knocked you out of the way. You're nearly clean, and your self repair will take care of any damage it caused."
He resumed frowning, then got brave and switched his optics back on to look at her. "And Nova?"
She looked away, face mask moving slightly. "We've got her put back together, and the antivirus is running. It's up to her and Primus now."
Rodimus tried to look toward the other table again, but then gave up and switched his optics back off as the room lurched. "Slag."
"But we got the spy, and Blaster and Laserbeak are having a little one on one with him." Panacea gently rubbed his chestplate as she watched the others finish with Nova and then leave the room. Chromia approached the table that held her daughter and stood shifting on her feet for a moment, then lay down beside Nova and cuddled the sparklet as close as she could with all the wires and tubes attached to her.
The white medic felt her spark shudder as she thought of her own daughter, and of the son who had never seen his first vorn in the living world.
Rodimus groaned softly and turned his head slightly, and she clamped down on the emotion and gently stroked his audio receiver till he relaxed into recharge.
Then she checked in with Springer, who reported that Ironhide was back from the Nexus with Oriana 2 and Starforge, and that Blazer, Oriana Pax, and Windstripe were with them. Arcee chimed in to second the report and ask for an update on Rodimus and Nova, then cut off abruptly at the news of the little femme's condition.
-Primus... I'm going to see if the rumors about Laserbeak's spybirds are true. And if they are Rodimus and the sparklets are never going without one.- She glanced again at her honorary aunt's back, then blinked tears and returned her gaze to her mate. -Just... keep everyone safe until I can. Please.-
