Rodimus knocked as he stepped through the open door, then paused and quirked a grin as his optics found his head scientist. "Am I interrupting something important?"
"Hmmmm? Oh, Rodimus! Welcome. ...Er, did I not send you our latest report this morning?" Perceptor paused in the act of trying to coax Shiloh to take a sample of white mush from a tiny spoon.
"You did." The Prime walked over and leaned his elbows on the table to look at the infant Meredronian, who looked back with those wide golden eyes and chirruped curiously. "It's good to see him feeling better."
"Indeed it is." Perceptor gently offered the spoon to his tiny son again, but the baby ignored it in favor of bobbing his head and making another little sound at Rodimus. "I was most relieved when the treatments proved effective. Most relieved."
"I bet." Rodimus stroked Shiloh's head with a gentle finger, quirking a grin as the head bobbing became more excited. "What're you feeding him?"
"Well, due to the unique physiology of his people they are able to metabolize and use energon," said Perceptor, then clicked softly as he tried to interest Shiloh in the mush.
"He's strong enough for that?" Rodimus frowned.
"Oh good heavens no. He's in need of minerals and something to keep his tummy full, with a little energy for his metabolic needs. Aren't you, Shiloh?"
Rodimus grimaced. "You're feeding him calcine? No wonder he doesn't want to eat."
"He's actually quite fond of it, especially since Kia discovered how to flavor it to his taste." Perceptor stirred the dab of white in the bowl that he held, and then patiently offered again as he glanced over to where his spark-mate rested on their sleeping bench. "There are just so many other things that capture his attention that it's hard for him to focus on his meal."
"You're starting early, huh?" Rodimus' expression lightened to a grin as he took his hand back so that he could lean his chin on his fist.
"Hmmm?" Perceptor asked absently, his face plates creasing in delight as Shiloh finally accepted the spoonful of energon flavored mineral mush.
"I talked to someone who knows about Meredronians. She gave me some notes." He took the green jewel out of subspace and set it down on the table next to Shiloh's mug. The big-eyed baby promptly forgot about his dinner again and made a quizzical little churr at it.
Perceptor froze with the spoon half way to his own mouth, his optics widening.
"She says you just stick a wire to it and the data downloads, or something. I get to look at it after you." Rodimus looked around, his face plates resuming his usual expression of slight boredom. "But right now I have to get to a meeting before Springer starts trying to tell jokes."
"Really, Rodimus, you mustn't be so lax in your punctuality." Perceptor's scolding was absent as he scanned the gem and tried to interest Shiloh in another spoonful of mush at the same time.
Rodimus just watched him for a moment, then chuckled and went.
