tennis, teeth and mothers

I've been to the Australian Open three times in the past week, and it's been lots of fun. I don't have any photos to show for it, but I did get a number of autographs, which was cool. Not Justine's, but that's ok, I guess. I'm glad I get to watch her quarterfinal against Sharapova tomorrow, because it's been scheduled for the evening, but ( Read more... )

That's a tough call with the dentistry. I would be really, really tempted to wait. :p But if it is making life crappy and will still do so for the next 8 months, then maybe not so much. I don't have any dental insurance and I should probably schedule a wisdom tooth extraction but I haven't yet.

And with parents...as long as you're in a house that they own, you probably do have to suck it up a little bit. Harsh but (perhaps) true. :p The consolation might be imagining all the people in a similar situation but with the parents in the next room instead of the next country.

I probably will wait - though I guess I might go see the oral surgeon anyway and tell him. Hmm hm hmmm.

Do the wisdom teeth bother you, have they been the problem with all your tooth trouble? If they don't bother you and don't affect the other teeth, I'd wait. If they do...it'd probably be a good idea to have them removed.

Damn, your mother sounds...bad. I think I'd be really annoyed with all the not-so-subtle hints. She should either accept what you want or leave you alone. If you don't feel you can tell her to stop, I guess the best thing is to ignore her as good as you can. I mean, she's pretty far away, and at least it's only emails.

*hugs*

They have been the problem, but I mean, I guess I can take antibiotics when I next get an infection (and hopefully it won't be more than once in the next eight months). So yeah, hmmmm.

I know, gah. Thanks. *hugs*

I'm so jealous! You went three time to the Open already?! Good luck to Justine tomorrow! Will keep my fingers crossed.

I'd wait out the extraction of the wisdom teeth. If they're not hurting why force yourself to pay out of pocket for? What's another eight months, huh? And are the braces really necessary? This dentist is not just scamming you and saying you NEED the braces, right? Would a cap be more expensive than the braces?

If I was in your position, I would politely ask your mother to stop with the religious talk. Tell her it makes you uncomfortable and you're not exactly the right person to ask, no offense. I don't get why she's still sending you all those e-mails even though you don't even reply. Parents.

Decisions, decisions.

I hope you're crossing your fingers in your sleep, then. ;)

Well, I don't think the dentist stands to gain anything by it, and he said it was absolutely my choice. I don't know how much the cap would be. I might just see the orthodontist and talk money and see, though the consultation will probably be expensive in itself, ugh.

I really want to, but I don't know how to do it, ugh. I might give her a call, I'm better with her on the phone.

Justine, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :( Damn that Sharapova.

Sheesh, it's all about money, isn't it? This is why it pays to have a friend who's also a dentist. ;)

Good luck with whatever you decide. Hope things go smoothly.

I had braces... they're not so bad. But then again, in your 20s... that could be hard. You'll be asked for ID all the time at pubs and bars.
Send your Mum some Hot Cross buns!! Can you even get them in Singapore? Mmmm... buns.
