I'm having a "I am a poster child for the mundane problems of using real names in social networks" :-}. You're added, Brynn's emailed (* embarrassed look*).
There's a lot of stuff I'd rather have divorced from my the name I use at work. And, the relationship between my gmail account and Google+ is just too close for comfort. The first time Google+ suggested I add a board member to a circle I nearly fainted. Finally, I have concerns about the way the +[username] feature works.
In short, I'm not persuaded that Google+ is going to be any more secure than Facebook, so, I'd rather keep my presence on both of those platforms pretty light.
D'oh! Sorry, I've definitely had the realname/online name issue at top of mind before now, but somehow hadn't thought of it when I asked. That makes sense; thanks for the summary.
I'm not sure about how the +[username] feature works--I'll have to look into that. I've seen it used to bring people into a conversation, but I have no idea how it interacts with circles and privacy, and there are some obvious important questions there. Hmmm.
I'm having trouble finding you as well... I thought I knew your name, so that's pretty embarrassing.
If you drop me a line at myfirstname.mylastname@gmail.com, I'll encircle you. :)
Oddly, it never crossed my mind that Google+ would be a replacement for Livejournal. LJ still seems much better suited to long-format posting. The content here isn't squished into a narrow column, and there's no substitute for the threaded commenting.
You've been circled--hopefully a circle back is relatively easy :-}. But yeah, I think you do know my name. It's in my LJ handle, after all. But "Smith" is common enough that I suspect the needle's not easy to spot :-}.
But you're probably right about LJ; I haven't really started to engage with Google+ yet, so I haven't figured out what it's good for. And heck, maybe they'll add threaded comments at some point :-}.

You were in my initial suggestion list, presumably because we're email contacts. You were easy :-}.

Cool; you're embarking on a voyage of discovery! (I appear to be in a punchy mood :-}).
