Things I liked about the ep:
- Merlin being given more responsibility as a physician;
- Elyan standing up for Merlin (aww!);
- Merlin clearly thinking he's entitled to shout enough at the knights and have them listen to him. Unf, Merlin in charge (even if they ended up not listening at all);
- More screentime for the knights, yay;
- Percival/Lamia looked ridiculously cute, even though it was obvious pretty much immediately that she was the bad guy girl;
- Gwen looked pretty in her woodsy clothes, even if they seemed oddly modern;
- Gwen stabbing the lamia to save Merlin;
- Arthur letting go of Gwen long enough to be happy to see Merlin alive, as well;
- I may or may not have laughed out loud at my TV when Lamia showed her true face. Lamia/Merlin/Knights/Gwen tentacle porn waiting to happen, y/y? And possibly in progress by the time Arthur finds them.
Aside from that, um, I'm hoping this'll be my least favourite ep of S4? I thought the overall tone of it fit far more into S3 than S4 (except with more knights and A/G), and none of the relationships made all that much sense to me (also, writers, if you're going to play off of Elyan and Gwen being siblings, you might want to show them actually being siblings at some point when one of them isn't enchanted - just saying). Also, wtf a) Gwen just standing there while Elyan shouts at her, and wtf b) er, way to undercut Arthur's "pride" of Gwen by preceding it with a scene where Arthur apparently thinks it's laughable to be saved by a woman. :| Although I was both amused and relieved that Merlin clearly thought Arthur was being ridiculous and was having none of it.
On a far more shallow note, er, Percival leaning over Merlin? Yeeeah, I may or may not want M/P now. I warned you it was a shallow note.
Also, wow, Leon is a jerk when he's under enchantment, but at least he got to charge the lamia and be worried for his friend and fellow knight.
Actually, to come back to the previous point, I may want Merlin/enchanted!knights now. Obviously, Lamia needs to find a way to distract Merlin from stopping her...
Overall, loving to see Merlin really becoming more and more confident in every way this season, though!
