Aargh. Hope no one caught the uncut version of this post. Sorry, guys. D: I didn't notice I was typing in rich text and then for some reason it didn't show in the preview. *crosses fingers it works out this time*
Also loved Arthur trusting Merlin to round everyone up and then Merlin being all authoritative. Mmm.
Oh god yeah, uhng...
I was under the impression that Agravaine reacted to the torture the way he did more because he was worried it could happen to him too, which only made me hate him more. I didn't get the change in Helios, from the way he treated Gwen to how he's more than ok with the way prisoners are treated by Morgana.
The fireside talk between Arthur and Merlin was my favorite moment. All Merlin and Arthur scenes were my favorites as a matter of fact, which works brilliantly for me because they're the main reason I still watch this show anyway. There was plenty to enjoy for me this time around!
Haha, clearly they put that moment in just for us. ;)

Oh, hm, that hadn't occurred to me. I seem to remember there was a moment in a previous ep where it also looked like Agravaine was hesitating for a moment, but I can't remember what it was now, so I could be misremembering that.
I didn't get the change in Helios, from the way he treated Gwen to how he's more than ok with the way prisoners are treated by Morgana.I think he was just nice to Gwen because he wanted to seduce her? :/ I found him interesting last week, but the moment he started to smirk, he just became another cardboard villain. For some reason, the writers often seem to start out writing their criminals as at least somewhat sympathetic, only to have them turn completely evil the next moment - both Morgana and Morgause suffered from that, too
( ... )
I wanted Hunith to be threatened so that Merlin would be pushed into a magic act of mother-vengeance. Does that make me a bad lady? It does doesn't it?
Well, threatened doesn't mean actually harmed, so I think you're safe. ;) When Merlin found out they were surrounded and there were these close-up shots of his face, I really thought he was going to do magic, for a moment. But then he didn't, heh.
SERIOUSLY. I just. It was right there, in every scene. Kind of in your face.
rodneyscat thought Hunith might be fleeing with them - I didn't pay attention, personally, in the fray of all the things happening, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed she is. Her appearance certainly was rather short, otherwise!
Just a very tiny bit, yes. If it had gone any longer I think it might have been iffy, but they just about got away with it.
I think I've just read too many fics where the reveal happens and Arthur asks Merlin if he's ever put a (mind-altering) spell on him, and Merlin can genuinely say no. He can't do so anymore, now. Also, I'd have been less skeeved out if Merlin took advantage of a perfectly conscious Arthur (it's easy to imagine why he'd want to get a little of his own back, after all), but this Arthur's just all woobie-faced and doesn't even know what's going on, and hmm. Did not sit well with me. OTOH, I spent most of the time Arthur was enchanted laughing out loud, so there's that. ;)
I think they did it even more this week.
This series has been so heart-breaking. In previous series, it's been contained more to a few specific eps, but in this one, there are just so many awesome but heart-breaking moments. Not that I'm complaining. <3
Yes, I was almost wishing they'd shown it as a double episode as the wait until next week is
( ... )
Well, he didn't seem all that keen on using the spell at first, and then he just seemed understandably amused, but the dish-washing scene (and the lecturing that came before that) was a little :/. It's understandable why Merlin would want to get some of his own back, but this Arthur didn't even seem to be all that aware of what was actually happening. And I don't think Arthur would be all too pleased to know he'd been under a mind-altering spell even without that.
I kind of wish they'd cut that scene and the resulting kicking of Merlin, to be honest, but then that's like my own complaint of the entire episode, so I'm not going to get too hung up on it. :)

did anyone else find Merlin robbing Arthur of his will and then sort of taking advantage of it a little creepy?
Just a very tiny bit, yes. If it had gone any longer I think it might have been iffy, but they just about got away with it.
Oh, boys, why do you break my heart so?
I ask myself that every week :) I think they did it even more this week.
it just feels like the two final eps are genuinely one ep cut in half
Yes, I was almost wishing they'd shown it as a double episode as the wait until next week is going to be killing.
