Just Too Good To Be True a.k.a. The Long Wait

Sep 27, 2010 18:23

So, here’s a thought that has been languishing in my YamaChii-filled head over the last few days: Yamada Ryōsuke and Kawashima Umika in some upcoming drama. Over the last 2 months and 25 days - give or take a little over 86 days - (a translation of that rumor was posted last 2010-07-02), some of us fans have been clamoring for more news of this promising and exciting project. I was even thinking that the drama would be slated for an October release (just like Hidarime Tantei EYE SP) The thought of Yamada finally starring in a romantic drama set afire something in us fans since it was almost like unprecedented. I mean here was another bankable Johnny’s idol finally starring in a romantic drama and he’s not even 18 years old yet!

Yeah, he might not have been the first: Nakayama Yuma might have beaten him to it (don’t forget Koishite Akuma) in terms of age but I have to admit, like all vampire-themed stories, it started to suck a lot - well, IMHO, almost all vampire-themed stories from Twilight to True Blood have become overrated over time and are starting to suck… like big time.

But going back to that topic at hand… I just find it annoying that grapevine’s such as these exist and they keep getting our hopes up. Hey, don’t misunderstand: I meant the one who first blogged about it and not the one who simply reposted-translated it. Well, I hope kenken18 can uncover more truth and details regarding this rumored drama in her current sojourn to Japan. No pressure there, kenken18! Hehehe.

On a more positive perspective, I’d like to think that this drama will be showing in the Winter rather than in the Fall of this year. My change in perspective was fuelled by the fact that the title/concept of the rumored drama has some tragedy and adversity written all over it (still it’s another opportunity to see Yamada crying his eyes out in this one - Hehe). So, it simply got me to thinking that the drama might be quite similar in tone with Snow Prince (starring Morimoto Shintaro). I still immensely enjoy and laugh at the comments every time I revisit that post where I first read that rumor about Yamada’s new drama. Some of us fans would even go as far as to deny Yamada from having his first on-screen kiss with just any young actress. KYAH!!! It IS about Yamada after all. Some comments are even clamoring for Chinen’s inclusion in the drama - the reasons vary from YamaChii ~(>o<)~ to the more famous pairing of Chinen and Umika. I take it all in and in stride but the nagging feeling that the rumor is just so good to be true is still there.

Well, I finished that job interview here yesterday and I’m just wiling away the hours while awaiting my flight home. I nailed the job but just as I was looking forward to working over here on the other side of the continent I’m immediately ordered to ship back to the States as I’m assigned to one of their sister companies near Hartford. Not exactly near as I’ll be forced to drive often to work. As I’m drafting this post, I’m also glancing at the recent news from the Asian front. I have to admit that I’m quite concerned with what’s happening between China and Japan in the last few days. China is slowly becoming some big bully in the playground. I find that quite distasteful that they can’t seem to address more immediate domestic concerns other than to bicker over territory which they can’t seem to get enough of. And they just had to start fighting with Japan all for some flawed nationalist sentiment. It’s like some WWIII foreshadowing or something. God forbid. I can’t even begin to imagine the repercussions to my, no, OUR fandom. But that’s just me typing and being selfish so you can just ignore about the last few sentences in this post.

Before I forget, the recent School Kakumei Live Stage shows Yamada sporting a new hairstyle.
I don’t know with you but it seems quite 'ominous' of him to have shorn off those excess locks. Hmmm, I could almost have invested some false hope there. He still looks hot and dashing. KYAH!!! Chinen is still Chinen after all, it’s amazing to note how he’s chosen to prioritize academics over extracurriculars and his job as an idol. Though the only thing that both have done as an idol in the last few months was engage in a flurry of concerts, magazine spreads and lest we forget that seven of the ten HSJ members are currently making regular TV appearances. I hope the remaining three get some TV appearances soon.

I'm boarding the flight homeward bound in two hours so I've still got some time to kill and edit this post. Hope the world's been kind to you, people... wherever you are.
