Has anyone found it possible to resist the psychic compulsions that we seem to experience periodically on this ship?

Private letter to ... some folkloric entity. Namechecked: the Masters, the Doctors, Rassilon, Verona, Selene, Temperance Brennan )

Not as of yet, but I am certain it is possible.

Have you any experience yourself with telepathic or psychic shielding?

None at all, though learning more about it could be quite useful. I only dealt with one psychic before coming here, and while her powers were quite fascinating, it would have been useful if she was a little less capable of gaining information about me.

Yes, there is that disadvantage.

What is your name, and where do you come from?

What's the matter, Rani? Feeling cheerful?

Hardly.

That's a shame.

How to make you smile...

I know! Let's study the molecular properties of the snow to determine its precise origins! It'll be a wild night in your laboratory!

At least you're not proposing another snowball fight.

Indeed, yes.

I suppose that explains the Old High Gallifreyan text you posted several days back?

Which you were not able to understand? Perhaps. But my secrets are not easily uncovered, are they?

I understood enough to know that you may want to learn how to use the privacy settings on the communications network.

And why exactly would I it?

You don't find it tedious to participate in the folk rituals of lesser species?

And I missed a 'want' in the tag above. *fail* highcollarevil December 16 2009, 19:50:52 UTC
Enough to realize you are contradicting yourself, and that's nothing like you. What has happened? Fallen under their spell?

Put it down to the fact that I grow bored.

Not at all. But then, I'm quite new here, myself. Are there any theories as to the origins of these disturbances?

I gather that some seem to think that the Admiral himself is responsible. Other events seem to be occasioned by the intersection of the Barge with another world or dimension.

Hmm.

Some of the anomalies caused by the Barge can be explained through the precise application of certain technologies. Emotions, appearance, memories... all can be altered with nanomite technology.

Subtle manipulation on a cellular or molecular level ... yes, I suppose that is possible. Had we the appropriate scanning equipment, we might learn if this was the case.

Incidentally, Doctor, I have mentioned your proposal for an inmate laboratory to one Dr Thomas Statler, whose comments you may notice above. It appears that we may have sufficient personnel to form a coalition of scientists.
