This is why we need a shipboard laboratory; surely those of us with biochemistry training could have synthesised a proper antiviral by now. I could have done it by myself in my sleep

The Admiral apparently supplied a room for art therapy. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

Based on the lack of response when another inmate inquired about that possibility, I expect the request must come from a warden.

Oh. Well. I'd be happy to make it for you, if you could give me your name, though of course your access to it would be up to your own Warden.

I am called the Rani. My own Warden appears to have departed.

Who are you?

I am well. I have also acquired skin and hair samples from a vampire, and have need of sellac and pigments to make a trade with Prefect to get plant lights. Once I get the latter, I will need to be able to use your microscope.

However, for now we also might want to search for a cure to this virus. If one of us were to successfully create an antidote, the wardens may begin to allow us greater access to the infirmary.

Yes. I could make the announcement now.

Excellent work. The microscope is available as you need it.

With any luck, this Aziraphale's appeal for a laboratory will bear fruit. An antivirus is the simplest of matters for me.

Very good.

Oh, hello. I remember you.

How's, um... Things?

You have returned in the middle of a communicable disease outbreak. "Things" are strained, at the moment.

I'll probably regret this, but... Do you need any help?

A highly contagious coronavirus is my best guess, lacking samples.

Quite. Perhaps it is just as well, since some virii I have studied make their Ebola look like a mild case of influenza.
