sorry i never got back to you on this, no lj in china.

yeah, PAL is super different from the concept of region codes. its easy to trick the dvd player to change codes, cause all its doing is saying hey, be #2 now. and it says, ok sure why not. but with PAL vs NTSC it actually has to change the way it processes color and video... different frame rates.

so your dvd player might be able to play other regions, just not PAL.

computers can play PAL or NTSC. and lots of cheapo dvd players can now.

there is no easy way to convert a PAL dvd to NTSC by burning a new one. i tried for a long time. as far as i know the only way to do it is with several programs and a lot of effort. cause sometimes it will convert the video, but than the audio will not be in sync. cause the PAL movie will be longer or shorter.. i forget which.

maybe you could take your disc to a good guys or something, and see which one it works in. for some reason the cheaper ones work better for this.

thanks! i am thinkng more about just returning the discs. i burned the first two and can burn the third. then at least i will be able to watch them on a computer. maybe i will try to find the "all regions" edition on ebay or used on amazon. getting a new, cheap dvd player at best buy is a good idea, though. i will check that out before i return the dvds.
