One of the effects of cutting down on TV has been that I am listening to the radio a lot more. Unfortunately, there are NO good radio stations in Miami. Well, there is one Christian one that is pretty cool, but it is a lot harder than my taste. Anyway, I mostly listen to the mainstream Christian station. It has about the worst DJs I have ever heard ( Read more... )

you are correct about the horror of that song. I was reflecting on it the other day, perhaps at the same moment you were also thinking about it - thus making us the only two people in all the earth thinking about that terrible song.

But don't dismiss the Jetsons as not in need of salvation. They might have deeper emotional problems than we can guess.

Judy = self-harm.

Oh no, I didn't say that the Jetsons don't NEED Jesus, I said that they don't THINK they need Him. They are just the kind of perfect looking family that must have some nasty skeletons in the closet :).

I was trying not to think about that song the other day. I will say, Chris Rice has some other songs that save him (like the coffee song), but anyway...

I have gotten into listening to Christian radio online. Way fm is my current favorite. We have a local Klove station, but it doesn't come in well at my house, and they are too light sometimes - hearing Amy Grant songs greatly offends me. I love our local Moody Radio station (WMBI) for the spiritual depth, but sometimes I just want some encouraging music to elevate my housework to a higher level (they have a few hours of music a day but it tends toward the traditional side). Praise God for cable internet! (Did I just say that? Check my blog for a good laugh.) Well, I've been ignoring my kids long enough. It's time to go make sure Campbell's not eating the sugar out of the sugar bowl again.

Yeah, I think a lot of Chris Rice's stuff is great. Alas, we are still on dial-up or I would totally be using the Internet. I am not normally one for listening to music a lot at home, but, as I said, with the absence of TV I definitely need something to fill the void. I like silence, but mostly when I am reading or snoozing - not when I am just watching Jack play. Maybe I will have to get my musician brothers to make me more mix CDs.

PS - Post pictures of your kids! I have no idea what they look like now!

I think that song gives all of Christianity a bad name (even the bad parts, like the crusades). I'm serious, it's just that bad.

I was talking to a friend of mine (who is a huge Chris Rice fan)the other day about how I really like Chris Rice music except for that song and apparently not even Chris Rice likes that song. He refuses to play it. So while that doesn't exactly make up for the existance of that song it does help a little bit.
