Ugh. And this morning I was happy to read about how he wants to close Guantanamo, how he approved stem cell research again, and even just giving more funding to high-speed trains for cross-country travel. Why would he (or his speech writers lol) feel the need for this? >_
Because, unfortunately, the biggest problem we have in this country is one he can't fix. He can't keep his promises, and he knows it's only going to get worse, so he needs a scapegoat. As much as I support closing Guantanamo, approving stem-cell research, and high-speed trains (although I'd prefer if they were privatized), those things are all meaningless in the face of economic depression.
Things are darkening quickly and repeating the words "HOPE" and "CHANGE" until everyone cheers isn't going to fix a damn thing.
I don't see his criticism of the other party's past efforts as any better or worse than the fact that he's being criticized for this approach which is supposedly going to prevent his nonpartisan efforts, but the nonpartisan efforts weren't working anyway, as it says Republicans weren't supporting it. To me, it seems more like one party is resistant to allowing the other any room to work with, because then it might turn out to be right, and therefore their party would be wrong...
