I know a lot of us in the safer areas of Victoria are asking ourselves what we can do to help. It might not seem like a lot, but there are a few things all of us can do that will provide a large service to those in need. One is to donate money to the CFA and various other relief organisations out there dedicated to assisting with the Victorian

Good on you for posting the links.

It looks like the 562 bus up to Whittlesea is still running, there's nothing about it not running, and I know the community centre where people are camping out is on that line. I'm not working tomorrow so will see if I can get up there and do anything.

Good on ya'. Let me know if there's anything to be done up there. I can't go with you tomorrow (first day of school) but I can go on Tuesday.

I don't even know how to find out what they need. Ditto for the centre in South Morang (which is literally a suburb up from where I live; I go to the shopping centre opposite there all the time) which is closer, but I suspect there'll be more people needing help in Whittlesea because it's more remote and there's less in the way of shops/supplies out that way. I was thinking of taking up stuff like packet soup and cordial and sandwiches... stuff that travels light and I could carry a reasonable amount of.

I'll see what they're saying tonight-- I'm at work so I'll be able to keep an eye on reports. At this stage they're saying it's likely people'll be stuck there for 48 hours. I'll keep you posted.

Yeah...sandwiches are an excellent idea. I'll listen to ABC radio and see if I can find out who you contact about helping for you.
