I just caught up with your knee woes and what a rotten situation! I had sever problems with my knee a few years ago and while the arthritis is still very much there, the inflammation and swelling/bursitis was really helped and resolved by acupuncture. I wish you speedy healing. I'm sorry you're having to suffer through this.
When I was 16 a piece of bone about the size of a dime died in my right femur, just behind the knee cartilage. Dr did a successful bone graft. No PT, poor followup led to chronic irritation in that knee for years. Also, for many years swelling of then bursa inside the knee, both sides, apparently in conjunction with allergies. No known reason.
I'm better today... Very exciting to be able to use my eyes again! And I ONLY weed while sitting down! Sadly no weeding today, too cold and windy. Spent a good deal of today in my big chair using the computer, but not my leg. Got caught up on lots of paperwork, which is good.
Gee, I'm sorry about your knee and that you can't work. Just as well for worker's compo.
That must be frustrating not to be able to do anything much. And bronchitis and conjunctivitis in both eyes? Your body is telling you it is time to rest. That trip to Tahiti and two swims a day sounds like a wonderful dream!

Most of the suffering is because I have to sit still. ;)
