I truly do not have any of those problems that you list here and my account is a permanent one from way back. LJ still shows me my page in the view I choose. I don't even know what you mean by giving space away to twitter (which I don't use either!). Weird...
I back up at DW but have never warmed to that place. I have a wonderful community here still and miss you in it!
Oh yes, I've had to upgrade a couple of times, which annoyed me greatly. I don't have a Twitter sidebar, thank goodness. And I can still have my plain freinds' page.

Look and see if your address bar shows the word "feed". If so, rebookmark your friends list to just be a friends list, not a feed. Solved a whole bunch of my problems.
Hip is getting better very slowly. Can walk short distances without pain.
Thanks! It turned out to be a little more complex than that, but your tip put me on the right track and now I have "my" LJ style back! I had to turn it back to the old style, and tell it to display a bunch of things in my style rather than the authors' styles. I swear I had had those settings turned on, but I guess the nature of social media everywhere is that it will eventually turn off your settings and do what it wants ;)

I'm glad that worked! One of the things I love about DW is that they don't change your settings. Sometimes they offer the option of doing so, but they never do it for you. OTOH I still come back to my community at LJ to read because they are my friends...
I am so sorry about your fall. I hope you rest and heal well before going back to work. I tried to comment at DW, and could not remember my password. I tried to find something written, but it is just easier to comment here than mess with resetting DW.
I am glad you can move better. I have a little note pad hidden in a stack of notepads with my password list, but DW was before I moved here, and I lost that list in the move. Along with every other important note from my old computer desk in GA.
