My iphone, suddenly and without warning, takes five seconds to wake up from sleep mode after you slide the jiggy over

Yes, keep holding down the power button at the top until it asks if you want to power off. It helps mine.

Yup, restart it. Hold down the top button until it asks if you want to turn it off, and do the slidey thing. It's likely gotten into an out of memory state that will be cleared up with the above procedure.
