This one isn't going to be the grand novel, I assure you. *G*
Up before 5:30 this morning, so we could get an early start on the trip home. Had breakfast at the hotel (the usual sort of stuff, eggs, sausage, etc), biggest complaint for me was that the floor to the breakfast room was a bit sticky. Got everything packed into the car and got on the road by 7:00, a teeny bit earlier than usual. Sadly, my normal route to get to Brewer & the #9 highway was blocked by construction and we got detoured all over Bangor, it seemed. Eventually got where I wanted to be, and from there, it was fairly smooth sailing. No low flying planes on the road this time.
Oh! Don't think I've mentioned that. Twice on this trip - when leaving Bangor last Saturday and when coming into Portland, we had planes coming into the nearby airports. And they came in low across the highway. It was rather startling, first time it had happened in all of the times we've been in the US.
Anyway, smooth driving on the #9. Got into St Stephen before 9:00, got our passports ready and got in the line. Answered a handful of questions at the border, including a new one "Did you buy any weapons for personal protection while in the US? Like mace..." I actually laughed a bit when he asked. The question just caught me off guard, I guess. And still didn't have an answer for "What's in Salem?".
Got out on the road, driving in kilometres per hour again (yay!). Tried to see if I could figure out where I'd missed Pennfield at. Nope. Looking at the map now, I see where the exit is. Just wasn't looking for an exit when we came this way last week. Anyway, got to Saint John about 11:30 or so, went to lunch at A&W. Took the wrong exit and ended up driving up Rothesay Avenue, but that was fine. Wasn't lost (surprisingly enough *G*). From there, a quick fill up again then on the road...next stop, Amherst. No, sorry, Moncton. Potty break at the McD's (and a Pumpkin Spice Latte stop too). Then Amherst's rest area. While there, I noticed they had a water fountain that had a feature for filling up water bottles. We'd seen one in Salem and thought it was such a cool idea, had never seen one before. Completely missed it, apparently, in the Amherst rest area we'd just been to a week before. Observant, we are, yes.
Nothing else to report, really, got into Dartmouth between 4:30-4:40...so a little earlier than previous years.
And thus concludes yet another exciting road trip! Thanks for reading.
