Rapher's Log: Stardate July 5/24

Jul 07, 2024 17:28

This is probably a personal record for getting my Rapher's logs posted. *G*

Did get a better night's sleep this night, but was still awake before 5:00am. Well before... After a potty break, I sat on the bed for a bit, Sandra spoke up, and we chatted for a while before getting up. Hit the breakfast room before 7:00am. Same food as yesterday, except that they had bacon! rather than sausages. First time we've had bacon in a hotel breakfast in years. Got our packing finished, Sandra took a few items to the car (and was stopped by an older gentleman on the way back, who inquired if the two of us were sisters - same hair colour. Apparently, his mother also had red hair...). Got checked out, packed up and on the road shortly after 8:30. The plan was to stop in Moncton to get gas again, then pop over to the McD's to try the new Orange Cream Pop Shake. Sadly, that one didn't work, they didn't have any shakes. Off we went.

Things were a little unpleasant just shy of Amherst, when a crow hit my windshield. Didn't see where it went, but I assume it didn't survive. Window seems ok. Stopped into Amherst around 10:30. Next stop was the Masstown Market. We'd tried it once before, wanted to try again to see if it was any different. So many people love the place and we really weren't sure why. Prices didn't seem much better than Sobeys. It was similar to Hennigar's (a bit larger) but was still meh. Stopped in Truro for lunch at McD's. Aside from the shake, they had a garlic parmesan Quarter Pounder that sounded tasty. Remembered why we dislike that McD's location. They were out of the shakes. Sandra was unable to pay for her meal at the kiosk where she ordered, had to go to the counter. I paid for mine at a different kiosk, but didn't get the receipt so I had no clue what my order number was. Asked the gal behind the counter and saw that it was in progress. 1232. They called out order 1230 and a lady took it. Then my order number disappeared from the 'in progress' board. Did that lady take it? Another woman's order number also disappeared without being picked up. It's standard - the number disappeared because the order was finished cooking, just waiting to be packed up. Oh, and both of us had bags for our food, despite selecting 'eat in'.

At least the burgers were tasty.

The rest of the drive was fine, a little rainy in spots. Got home just after 1:00, one of our earlies returns. (both cats were fine, although I think Coal hadn't eaten much in my absence)

I think we're good for Saint John for a while again. While there were a few little things we missed doing, there doesn't seem to be a lot for us to do in the immediate area. A return trip would probably involve using SJ as a base, and going elsewhere. (which I think I may have suggested after our last trip) *G*
