OOC: LOG Peony and Jade

Apr 14, 2009 23:05

Who: Peony and Jade
What: waking up after the pheremone disaster ends
When: April 14th, 2009
Where: Peony's chamber
Why: Cause we can.
Warnings: none?

Peony stretched and shifted into a more comfortable position on his human pillow. That it smelled like Jade and likely was Jade, was nothing new. He yawned and shifted, not giving it much thought. There'd been countless times over the years that they've slept a bit too close for what most would deem normal for two grown, heterosexual men. Except... Peony froze, deciding that the weekend had to have been a figment of his imagination. He'd never felt that way about Jade before, and he certainly didn't now.

When Peony had tossed and turned, Jade finally stirred awake, blinking twice to reaffirm just where he was. Although he spent more time here than over in his own home, it still jarred him just a little when he woke up in a 'strange' area. However, the comfortable weight of Peony on his chest made up for any uncertainties, and he gently pat His Majesty's head. Unfortunately, it was that very same motion that in turn reminded him of the weekend's events, and, upon the realization, he also froze, Peony's blond locks falling haphazardly from his fingers.

"It was real, wasn't it?" Peony asked, very quietly.

"I'll tell you in a moment." Jade murmured, pinching Peony's arm. Hard.

Peony yowled in pain.

Jade, who had lifted his head from the (very comfortable) pillow, allowed it to flop back down in resignation.

"Does that answer your question, Your Majesty?"

"You didn't have to pinch so hard," Peony said, shifting away from Jade. "I think I owe the maids a bonus."

Jade made no motions to stop him, instead bringing up both of his hands to cover his face. In a muffled groan, he responded, "With all due respect, I believe we already have, Your Majesty."

"If it weren't for their timing..." Peony couldn't even finish the sentence, shuddering instead.

There was a long, awkward silence before Jade summoned up the fortitude to speak again, "...I'm going to get out of your bed now. If you don't mind."

"I'll try not to be offended," he said, a sigh slipping past his lips as Jade moved to get up.

"It's not you, it's m..." Jade couldn't even finish the sentence, and promptly rolled out of the bed and, upon discovering he was dressed in nothing but the usual boxers, immediately scoured the floor in search of his clothing.

"You know... I can't say anyone's ever tried that line on me before. It's always the other way around," Peony said, pulling the blankets up over his head.

"Shut up. Please. Just. Shut up."

"Sorry."

Jade sighed, sitting at the edge of Peony's bed and slipping on his pants, "It's not your fault. I'm sorry." He stood for a brief moment, fastening the button, mulling over the words in his mind before continuing, "I fear what the rumor mill will be churning out when we leave this room."

"If it hasn't already been."

"Suddenly the prospect of an illegitimate child between the two of us seems much more tangible."

"Yeah..." Peony pulled the blankets back down and sighed. "I don't know if Nephry is going to want to listen to me long enough to even hear an apology..."

"Mmm... knowing her, she'll probably maim you before the first word leaves your mouth." Jade grabbed his shirt and wormed into it, squeezing his head through the tight collar.

"It'll be worth it if she forgives me afterward."

"You've only been involved with her older brother. It can't be too hard."

"Of course, silly me to think it would be anything other than easy."

With a sigh, Jade leaned back, so his head would rest on Peony's stomach. "She'll understand. I'll help you explain."

"Let me try on my own, first?"

"Is my wittle Empewow gwowing up?"

"Funny, Jade," Peony said with a sigh.

Jade reached up with a hand, "This will be the last time for a while."

"Metaphorically or literally?" Peony asked as he took Jade's hand.

Once he felt Peony's fingers wrap around his, Jade gave a tight squeeze, "I mean that as soon as we walk out of this room, I won't be able to make eye contact with you for at least a few days. I'm sure you understand."

"Only a few days this time?" Peony asked, nodding his head in agreement. He knew he wouldn't be able to make eye contact either.

"If only because it's not our fault entirely this time."

"Are you saying we should have known better than to give into the uncontrollable urges that were completely clouding our minds?"

"You're so smart!"

"That wasn't simply hormones, Jade. If it was, I could have resisted."

"I know." Jade squeezed again, "I'm... taking this out on you. I'm sorry."

"You know it's not my fault."

"I do."

"As long as you're not blaming me, I don't mind you venting about it."

"You honestly thought I was blaming you?"

"I can't always tell what you're thinking."

"I'm hurt." Something underlying Jade's voice, something minute and almost undetectable implied that, despite this being one of his (many) trademark sarcastic retorts, Jade may actually have felt just the smallest twinge of offense.

"You hide so much behind sarcasm, can you blame me for not always being able to pick out your real feelings? Or wanting to double check on them?" Peony asked, squeezing his hand reassuringly.

"Right, right. I love you, too." Jade cringed, "...I'm sure you know what I mean."

"I know that you don't mean it in a 'I want to...' kind of way." Peony couldn't finish that thought right now, and was fairly certain Jade didn't want to hear it.

"This may be somewhat difficult, Your Majesty." Jade groaned.

"We'll get over it... eventually."

"I'm not so sure... considering how prudish you are."

Peony snorted.

That earned a smile from Jade and he finally lifted himself so he could face Peony full on-- or as full on as he could. "We've been through worse, I suppose."

"We have, and those times we didn't have a valid scapegoat."

"Speak for yourself." The smile turned into a sly grin.

"Bastard. I knew you were holding out on me."

"The truth is... I farmed scapegoats in a previous life. That skill has not left me."

"What do they eat, and where can I get some? I bet they'd get along splendidly with my rappigs."

"They and the rappigs are mortal enemies." Jade smiled wider, sitting up fully and closer to Peony, hunching over, "And that means so are we." With that, he placed a gentle kiss on Peony's forehead, fighting back the flinching. He hovered there for a moment and whispered, "Again, that's the last one for a while. I'm going to finish getting dressed, so we can do some semblance of damage control."

Peony couldn't help but flinch as Jade moved in close. "IF the circumstances were any different, I'd protest your promise of that being the last for awhile."

"Understandable, Your Majesty." Jade lifted himself away from both Peony and his bed, throwing on the rest of his uniform as he did so.

"I think I want to spend all day in hiding. It'll make it easier to sneak out to Keterburg later."

"Shall I tell the press I smothered you in your sleep, then?"

"They won't believe that."

"Of course not. But it'll buy you time enough to escape."

"In that case, say whatever you want."

"Are you sure you want to give me that kind of liberty?"

"I trust you."

"Now why would you say that," Jade pressed the back of his hand to his forehead in mock distress, "Now I could never do anything underhanded to you! You've foiled me, Your Majesty!"

"My plan worked?" Peony asked, in mock shock.

"Only because I allowed it to."

"Must you always thwart me?"

"It's my mission in life, Your Majesty. My very purpose. If I deny it, who knows what may happen!"

"The world might end."

"Precisely, and you don't want to be the cause of the end of the world, now do you?"

"Perish the thought!" Peony said, striking the same back of hand to forehead pose Jade had moments earlier, albeit more dramatically.

"I wouldn't be surprised if it were foretold, to be perfectly honest."

"Hmmm. Possibly."

Jade rolled once more so he lay on his stomach, "My own personal bad luck charm, then?"

"Something like that."

"I've finally something different than all the cool kids. Yippee."

"You always have." Peony smirked and pointed to himself, "Me for a best friend."

"Suddenly I don't feel so cool anymore."

"Bastard."

"You've gone and hurt my feelings!"

"You hurt mine first."

"You don't count."

"How do I not count?" Peony huffed.

"Because I said so, you silly billy."

"Silly billy? Really? What are you, five?" Peony laughed.

Jade joined in, bringing a hand to his chest, "Shall I use a lisp? To add to the effect?"

"Please don't."

"But you thilly billy!"

Peony cringed. "At least you didn't talk like that this weekend."

At that, Jade couldn't help but return the action, a shiver running up his spine and rattling his shoulders. "Thank you so very much for that imagery, Your Majesty."

"You're welcome."

Jade flopped beside him, huffing in exasperation. "And so we part?"

Peony sighed. "I guess so."

"Before it becomes too awkward to say for the next year or so, I suppose I'll tell you now, on a purely best friend basis." Jade, never really letting go of Peony's hand, squeezed tightly, "I love you, Your Majesty."

"I love you, too."

"And I suppose I can forgive you. Just once."

"How kind."

"Don't waste it now~."

"I wouldn't dream of it." Peony smiled awkwardly.

"Shall I get going then?"

"I suppose."

"For the record, I don't want to."

"I know, but I need to bathe and come up with a plan of action for gaining Nephry's forgiveness."

"Ah yes. Best of luck with that."

"You're going to need it, too. Unless you think she's going to automatically forgive her brother for stealing me away."

"She's more likely to forgive you before forgiving me."

"I'll let you know how it goes."

"No need. The microchip I had implanted under your skin should you get lost also comes with a microphone. ♥"

"You might want to fix that after she forgives me."

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, Your Majesty."

"I'm just saying. You never know when it might happen."

"This is my sister you're speaking of, Your Majesty. Do you really wish for me to unleash my big brother side?"

"That's why I suggest you turn off the microphone portion, so you'll never have to know until she starts showing. And then you can pretend it's the stork. Or that she's just getting fat."

"Is that were babies come from, Your Majesty? Body fat?"

"I'm not ready to give the birds and the bees lecture yet."

"Yea, yes. Although, I must tell you now, if you do anything with her before you marry her, I'll have to kill you. ♥"

"Then you'll have to kill me now. I've already kissed her more than once."

"You know what I mean, sir."

"I know, I know. Now get out of here already."

Jade smiled before rolling swiftly, latching onto Peony for a brief moment as he whispered, "Besides. I was your first~" Then, with a sly grin he got to his feet, stretching almost lazily. "I suppose I'll see you in the hallways, Your Majesty."

"You will. Now go," Peony said with a sigh. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long before things were completely back to normal between them.
