Well this is a prime example of what we ghetto folk like to call "Haters," i.e., people who have too much time on their hands and thus, must spend it nitpicking others or are dying from envy of something.

For one, your art is what made me notice you, aside from hearing your name being dropped every so often by "Le Gang" and hearing much about your characters, of course. I dont know much about you as a person nor do I know you personally, but I am aware that you are an extremely kind, generous, and wholesomely good individual. Not to mention that you have a strong and enigmatic charisma that is nothing to sniff at. You needn't allow petty people like these to discourage you so easily.

I once had to tell a friend that art she created was for herself. Sometimes, with art and writing alike, people can tend to draw a crowd of fans or enthusiasts; whichever you want to call them. That's just a plus. It's the same with you. You do what you do for yourself and you just happened to draw supporters of your work. That doesnt mean you have to ( ... )

i'm going to get on my soapbox...i'm sorry.

as an artist and writer, i despise when people feel that WE have to cater to THEM. why should we owe them anything? if you only pursue art and writing within a fandom, you're going to run up against some limitations after awhile; plus, it's fun to develop your own characters and it's a much more valuable learning experience. you owe it to yourself to become better, and what better reason to continue than loving what you do?

interests change, time goes on. i remember when your drawing turned more from lod to your own characters. i knew what was coming, but knew that you'd contributed so much to the fandom that maybe it was time to move on. one game can't keep you going forever. and someone called you selfish? that smacks of hypocrisy. art is done as much for your benefit as anyone else; as the artist i think you should be able to do whatever you want. they're the ones that are bitching about not getting what they want, and that's more selfish than any personal decisions you make ( ... )

Do what you love. If you do something to simply please your fans, and take no pleasure from it yourself, then it's dead to you. [1] People who demand that you only produce work to please them are being selfish. If they wanted a particualr work that badly, they should develop the skills to make it themselves.

On a related note, I first became of your works by browsing PE and seeing your Marius and Atredius works. I don't think I've actually ever seen any of your FF8 works (though I'm sure they're just as excellent). If you never drew a work related to any fandom, I would still consider your art worthy of high praise. [2]

[1] We'll leave the subject of commissioned artwork out of this for the moment, since we're talking about emotions primarily.

I can't believe people would be so arrogant and rude as to say that. To expand your creative talent, it's obvious that you would want to draw original work.

*luffs you always* Keep it up, dear. ♥
