A friend recently asked for useful advice for moving/packing/placing stuff in storage. I've had to move something like 11 times in the past 8 years, so here's some of the stuff I've learned...

Good list. I've never tried it, but I've heard liquor boxes are great for moving. They have to hold large bottles, so they are nice and strong. And it probably goes without saying that you should get rid of stuff before you move, especially big stuff/toys. Ask yourself "Do I want to pay to move this across the country?"

File boxes have most of the qualities of produce boxes, except they break down beautifully. They aren't QUITE as sturdy, but I mailed books across the country in them, and they survived. The lids aren't quite as deep, but they're still made for the boxes.
