The softness in your watercolors is very beautiful. I love the splotchiness, it seems very confident.

So beautiful. Very Jenny Saville.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

That's a huge compliment for me, being as how I'm in love with basically everything Jenny Saville has done throughout her career. I had the opportunity to see Hyphen by her this summer at the Phillips Collection, but a lack of funds put a stop to that. I'm still somewhat distraught over it.

Oh man, I understand. I live in DC and went back a few times just to look at that piece. Totally mind blowing.

Thanks!

Yeah, the figures were something new for me at the time; I was pretty under-confident. Since then, I've expanded upon them a bit and they've improved. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that I did it in a week. It was sort of a last minute deal for an area studies critique.

For my own well-being, I signed up for another figure drawing class, just to sharpen some skills. Some of that tends to go away when all you do is paint. I hope to be a bit more ambitious with these once I relocate to another school.

Thank you! I generally work from a warm color palette, though lately I've wanted to explore a cooler palette just to see where it takes me.

Maybe try combining the two while you're experimenting.
