The Gotham City Gentlemen's Club is not, we hasten to assure the sensitive reader, that kind of gentlemen's club. It is frequented by well known and respected names like Bruce Wayne and Maxwell Lord, and still in this century, not open to women. Especially not women who are inappropriately attired.

They've made an exception for the Black Canary.

Hal has no problem barging his way into a gentleman's club, and he wouldn't even object to becoming a member if only the men who joined places like this weren't so damned uptight and actually did something other than sit around.

Not to mention the part about not having women around. Seriously, what was the point?

But none of that matters right now, because he finally has his target in the crosshairs.

"Simon Carr, only you know the secrets of the Justice League! Tell us everything you know!"

"Ease up, G.L.," the Flash interrupts smoothly, and Dinah's glad for his levelling presence. Green Lantern really has been taking it seriously since Negative Man pointed out the perils of running withouot knowing their financier. Though while he's taken it particularly personally, they're all on edge.

It's such a stupid, rookie mistake.

"We've been talking," Diinah says, "and we're uncomfortable with this arrangement. For all we know, Vandal Savage could be holding the purse strings."

Guess he was being pretty heavy handed there. For once Hal isn't completely pleased to have the attention of everyone in the room.

"We want to trust you, Carr. We're even letting your nephew, Snapper, act as our maintenance kid."

"Man," he interrupts.

"Whatever," Hal interrupts right back. Right now Carr should be glad Hal even remembered the kid's name. "But I'll be honest. I'm not comfortable continuing under a cloud of suspicion."

"Flash," Carr says as soon as he can get a word in edgeways, "Canary, all of you. I've covered this before. I cannot reveal your sponsor's name. That is a firm condition of his offer. All I can say is that the gentleman behind your financing is a man of great character and altruistic motive."

And a man, Dinah can't help but notice. He can't reveal his name, but he can rule out half the human. Of course it can't be a woman.

"All I ask is that you believe me. You are in no danger of being compromised."
